My name is
Wenwen.... I wonder how many of you actually like your Chinese name.. esp when u are not given any English name at all.
When I was young, in Primary School, I dun like my Chinese name, always asking myself y it has to be 2 of the same character. My frens were childish n often call me names like Smell Smell n Mosquito (Wen Zi).
When I was in Secondary School, it gt common that pple have English name, whether or nt you have it in your IC or nt. Names like Chanel, Gucci were getting common, esp among the Ah Lians and on the IRC chat rooms. I wanna have one too, but upon second tot, I tot that was stupid. It was a period when pple of my age gt 'ashamed' of their Chinese name n only used English names that they think sound nice, sometimes changed every once in a while. Somehow I belong to that group, it's juz that I dun get myself an English name but give myself another Chinese name, esp when I chatted online. I hated it when pple laugh at my weird WENWEN.
As i grow older n enter JC, I learn to accept n like my Chinese name, n it was pleasant to know tt pple think tt Wenwen is a cutez name. Till now there are still pple who call me weird names, but nvm la, i see them as kids. having only a Wenwen doesnt mean I'm born in China! tt's wat some pple tot, my god~ Hey, I have an English name since young, it's juz tt I dun use it. My 2 bros are Chester n Gilbert, o cos I have one, but I dunno y mine wasnt recognised like my 2 bros'. Hee, LOOK, my name is Kathy la... as wat my bro told me.... I knew it when I was very young, but I dun use it cos o 2 reasons.... I dunno how to pronounce it then n it's not on e IC, so y use it?
Be proud of the name given to u, it's ur identity! To give urself another ang mo name onli tells me how insecure u are in this society..
