How many people actually care about the environment in which they live in? Will u rather wait for the cleaner to clear all the rubbish for you and wake up to a sparkling clean neighbourhood in e morning, or make an effort to ensure at least the block you stay is free from litter?
Last night, as I was about to enter the lift after a lady, she suddenly stopped in her steps. That irritated me, as I nearly knocked into her and she was blocking the entrance!
However, what I saw really was impressive. This lady, both hands carrying things of what I guessed were Cny decorations, actually picked up a dirty, Wet plastic bag on the floor and threw it into the bin. Despite the difficulty she had while bending down, she seemed happy that the rubbish was cleared. A small act, one which anyone could easily dismiss, is one good example of how we should keep our environment green. She could also be thinking that wet plastic bag posed a danger of causing an elderly to slip at the mini slope of the lift. Whatever the reason, this lady certainly has done something no one could do at that time. I'm an advocate of having clean surroundings, but at that moment, I was just too tired to do anything and most importantly, I didnt want to get my hands dirty.
Everyone has a part to play in the society, but please don't say you work to contribute to our economy, because you are lying. Let's live up to the expectations of keeping our country a better place to live in!
